Nimonic Shim Sheets and Plates consist mainly of nickel-based alloys with considerable additions of chromium (15–21%) and cobalt, supplemented by titanium and aluminum for precipitation hardening. They have superb creep properties, tensile strength of over 900 MPa, and yield strength of about 650 MPa. The materials are stable structurally even at temperatures above 800°C. Nimonic alloys have good fatigue strength and oxidation resistance. Their mechanical and thermal characteristics render them particularly useful in searing heat and pressure conditions like turbine blades and engine parts.
