Stainless Steel 418 or Greek Ascoloy is a chromium (12–14%), nickel (1.8–2.2%), tungsten (2.5–3.5%), and carbon (0.15–0.20%) martensitic stainless steel alloy. It provides excellent high-temperature tensile strength, oxidation resistance up to 760°C, and good creep and stress-rupture properties. It has tensile strength of up to 965 MPa with good machinability and hardness following heat treatment. SS 418 is suitable for high-performance applications of critical nature.
