347 Stainless Steel is a stabilised austenitic stainless steel alloy with a composition of chromium (17–19%), nickel (9–13%), and niobium (columbium), which has the effect of inhibiting the precipitation of carbides during welding. The alloy possesses excellent mechanical characteristics with high tensile as well as yield strength, good resistance to creep, and high oxidation and corrosion resistance at high temperatures. SS 347 retains its structural stability against thermal cycling and stress.
