**Stainless Steel 317 Sheets and Plates** contain 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum with minimal carbon content to reduce carbide precipitation. The increased content of molybdenum confers substantially improved resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chemical attack compared to normal 304 or 316 grades. SS 317 possesses a tensile strength of approximately 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and high ductility, weldability, and formability. Its austenitic microstructure also provides good strength at elevated temperatures as well as resistance to oxidation.
