Q&T carbon steel usually consists of carbon, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, and boron. On quenching and tempering, tensile strengths become 700–1100 MPa with yield strengths up to 690 MPa based on the grade. Heat treatment makes the plate hard, ductile, and impact resistant. Q&T steels have better wear resistance and fatigue strength. They are structurally sound under high load and cyclic temperatures and thus can be used for dynamic industrial processes. Although they exhibit high strength, they still have enough formability and weldability to be suitable for intricate fabrication work.
