Maraging Steel 250/300/350 contains 18–20% nickel, 7–12% cobalt, 3–5% molybdenum, and titanium (0.3–0.6%), with the rest being iron. The mechanical properties differ depending on the grade:
250: Yield ~1700 MPa, UTS ~1790 MPa
300: Yield ~1900 MPa, UTS ~2000 MPa
350: Yield ~2050 MPa, UTS ~2100 MPa
All grades are characterized by good toughness, good fatigue life, and excellent machinability in the annealed condition. Aging does not impair strength but leaves dimensional stability and weldability unaffected and is thus best suited to mission-critical aerospace and tooling applications.
