Inconel 718 has ~50–55% nickel, 17–21% chromium, 2.8–3.3% molybdenum, 4.75–5.5% niobium, and minor levels of titanium, aluminum, and iron. It has tensile strengths of up to 1240 MPa and yield strengths around 1035 MPa by means of precipitation hardening. The alloy has superior strength, creep resistance, and fatigue strength up to 700°C. Inconel 718 also has excellent resistance to pitting and oxidation. The foils are appropriate for thin, precision-made components subject to harsh heat, stress, and corrosive substances.
