Aluminium 7050 is a high-strength, heat-treatable alloy made up of around 6.2% Zinc, 2.3% Magnesium, 2.3% Copper, and small amounts of Zirconium and Chromium. It provides a tensile strength of 570 to 640 MPa and a yield strength of about 500 to 580 MPa. This alloy is recognized for its superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking, excellent toughness, and good fatigue strength. It is usually used in T7451 or T7651 temper. Aluminium 7050 performs well in structural aerospace applications due to its durability, strength-to-weight ratio, and resistance to environmental damage.
